When can someone from Cascade Glass come to measure a shower enclosure?

The tile needs to be installed properly before measuring occurs; the smoother the surface we have to work with the better the end result.

Are there products to help keep the glass looking clean?

Yes, we use and recommend either Enduroshield or Showerguard. Please visit this link for Enduroshield or this link for Showerguard.

What kind of glass are frameless showers made from?

Frameless showers typically consist of either 10mm or 12mm tempered glass. We do not use 8mm glass as 10mm glass is more economical.

What shower bases cannot support a frameless door?

Bases made from Kerdi, Schluter, fiberglass, or acrylic are unable to hold up a frameless door. Concrete or wood bases are best for this. If a foam or acrylic base has been used, the door must be hinged to the wall or side panel.

Are frameless showers water or airtight?

The short answer is no. There is typically a 3/16” around the door to allow for the door to open and close. Bulb seals and sweeps are used to help keep water and air in. Even with seals and sweeps, a gap is still required for the door to settle and shift with the changing weather. If the seals and sweeps are touching the opposite surface, wear and tear will occur.

What wall support is required?

In order to properly support glass to a wall (either doors or panels), a 2×4 stud needs to be installed behind the tile.

Can I use my shower right after it is installed?

If any silicone has been used, four days need to be allowed for it to dry and set properly.

What is the timeline of having a shower installed?

All tempered glass takes 10-14 days to arrive from the tempering plant. Unless it is a 2-trip installation, glass will be installed shortly after receiving it.
